Wilson is my buddy that I met over the lockdowns of 2020. I finally got around to putting up a suet feeder and this adorable little downy woodpecker was the first one there. I’m still not very consistent in keeping the feeder full, but when I do, Wilson is always there to greet me.

So in that way, this is a portrait of a friend who is willing to meet me where I am. He doesn’t go leave for somewhere far away because I don’t keep the feeder full, he goes about his business and checks in every once in a while to see how it’s going. And more than that, he seems like he’s happy to see me. He even started bringing his mate over. I call her Wendy.

This piece is perfect for the collector who needs a little friend on their wall, just checking in to see how you’re doing. A tiny little peaceful presence in a room to brighten things up a little and remind you that there are friends who love you.
