Over the Hill (Hines Park Drive)

$475.00

Description

16×20 Acrylic on Canvas, framed Made as park of the Northville Art House’s “Hines’ Lines” event. The objective was to paint a scene along either Hines Park Drive or Woodward Ave to celebrate Edward Hines’ contributions to the road system. Apparently this is the guy you can thank for yellow lines on the road! So given the choices and who I am as an artist, I gladly used this project as an excuse to visit Hines Park and play a round of disc golf as Cass Benton. And also paint. Yes, that too. Right. That course kicked my ass though, I scored like +8 or 9. Yikes. At least it was pretty and wooded! I chose this scene because it’s what I see every time I bike down Hines Park. It’s right at the north end of the park and has this perfect “sunny day” kind of feel to it and I just love a good grove of pine trees! This painting would be nice in your home if you live in the Metro Detroit area and enjoy the surprisingly large selection of parks and green spaces there.
