16×20” Acrylic on Canvas
Currently on Display at Sandhill Crane Vineyards in Jackson.
I first came upon this sunflower field almost ten years ago on a bike ride along Mason rd in Fowlerville. It was a surreal and almost spiritual experience seeing this giant sunflower field in bloom along a narrow country road while getting buzzed by local drivers. The contrast of beauty and ugliness struck me hard at that moment and stuck in my mind whenever I drove by that area.
I painted this one up in about three hours on a steamy August day with wildfire smoke haze in the sky. I focused on the foreground in this one, trying to lead your eye around the canvas. I don’t feel the need to talk about what inspired me, it seems pretty evident that it was the giant field of gorgeous yellow flowers.
