The cardinal is, for so many people, a visit from the other side of the veil. In some traditions (nothing specific really), they’re thought to carry the souls of loved ones back to our world to visit. Do the cardinals know this? I don’t think so…

Birds have this ability to comfort us humans and help us put together stories that start to make sense of these bigger questions in life. They tend to visit us exactly when we need them, as a little nudge in the right direction. It’s a beautiful thing, whether or not the birds are aware of their impact.

Who knows, maybe they are.
