Description
Originally painted as part of the Barefoot and Free festival 2024 in Milford, MI, I WELCOME THIS CHANGE is an affirmation for difficult and turbulent times.
I painted it big because I needed to really receive the message myself. I was going through a lot of changes and was having trouble working through them. Knowing that I wasn’t the only one feeling unsure of themselves and the future, I made this as a reminder that change is the only constant and that the less I resist it, the easier it will be.
Owls have a long history of meaning and folklore around the world. Generally, they’re thought to be symbols of intelligence, wisdom, intuition and often even transformation. In the case of this one, I really leaned into the intuition and transformation aspects of the owl symbolism. The dark purple also brings a sense of mystery to the image as well.
