Blood Moon is part of my Neighbors series, where I explore the relationships we have as humans with the more common wildlife around us. The hard lines represent the rules and structures we put on the world and the drips and breaks are represent the way that these creatures carve out their own lives despite of all that. Coyotes are a fascinating example of this relationship. Humans have tried many times to exterminate this beautiful creature, only for them to bounce back even stronger every time. Their versatility allows them to not just survive, but thrive under attack. May this painting be a reminder of your own resilience and versatility. You’re a survivor in a hostile world yourself.
