My goal is to bring more beauty and meaning into the world and into your home. Both peacocks and stained glass are known for their beauty and symbolism. So putting them together seemed obvious to me.

As a painter, a lot of my work revolves around capturing the light to bring it into your home. Stained glass captures and redirects the literal, actual light coming through it. And I think that’s amazing. It also carries intense religious and spiritual meaning, just begging me to dive in.

Personally, I’ve always loved peacocks, ever since my mom took me to the zoo as a little kid. I remember the way they sparkle and shimmer in the light and the how beautiful it was when they fanned out their tailfeathers.

Those feathers fall out and the birds regenerate them, serving as a symbol of not only beauty and pride, but also of renewal. The peacock is a heavy and complex symbol, but ultimately I feel it’s a hopeful one.

I hope it can bring light and joy and color into your home.

This print was a bit of a challenge to print, but it was a fun and engaging process for me, not a struggle by any means. Each step felt purposeful and led to the next.

I made the sketch, refined the design, transferred it to the block, carved it out, and printed it. Then I waited for it dry and painted it. The printing itself was done on a pottery slab roller pulling double duty as a printing press. And I suppose that was the biggest challenge. But more of an opportunity than anything, really. For me, art is about finding the joy in the process of making things, not in overcoming the struggle. If it wasn’t fun, I wouldn’t be doing it!
