Have you hesitated because you don’t know if the work you love will look as good in your home?
Whether you’re looking for a statement piece or just a little something to fill a space…
You’ve found exactly the right artist!
My name is Brian Fritz and I’ve been an artist in the Southeast Michigan region for over 10 years. And in that time, I’ve realized that not only do I make art, but I also make meaning. And that may be even more important.
My artwork adorns the walls of hundreds of homes just from live events like art fairs, but I also realized that many people would prefer a more relaxed setting to make these important decisions. Like their own home. Where the art would go.
What if you could hang up paintings in your home to see if they’re the right fit before you committed to them? What if you had a few options to choose from and you could ask the artist about their creative process and the story behind making them?
What if I brought the artwork to you?
We’ll talk about size, color, budget, themes, stories, everything! All in your home, all on your schedule. Fill that spot on your wall or upgrade those prints and posters you’ve had for years!

Listen to My Happy Clients!

“My wife Rebecca and I already had one of Brian’s prints in our dining room and were looking for some larger statement pieces for other rooms. Having him visit our home with a selection of his work allowed us to find beautiful paintings that pull whole rooms together, while hearing stories about what drives his creative process. We’ve gotten so many compliments already on the bluebird we selected!”
-Erin Busk-Sutton, Detroit
Who is this for?
The New Collectors
You finally have a place to call your own and you’re starting to fill it with nicer things, but you realize that the posters and prints that you had from your twenties just aren’t cutting it anymore. You crave meaning and originality and you have a little extra to spend on something that was made be a real living artist that also ties the room together, and having a story to share with your friends is a must. You’ve started looking at galleries and browsing through art fairs, but find the process to be overwhelming.
The Conservationists
You love being outside and you celebrate nature in all its forms, in every season. You want artwork that inspires you and shows off your passion to your guests while telling a story that connects you to the spaces that you love as well as your love of the arts. You’re probably over the fast pace of art fairs and want to slow down a bit to make sure you’ve found the right piece for your home. You probably live near a lake and spend a lot of time out there with your binoculars.
The Adventurers
You love traveling to national parks and having meaningful experiences in nature, away from all the people. The trail calls to you and you’re already getting your hiking boots on. You want art on your walls that celebrates the places you’ve been and the things you’ve seen along the way. Canyons, scenic vistas, mountains, deep green forests, you want memories that cameras can’t capture. You may be a good candidate for custom work. You’ve been known to skip town for a whole weekend to go see a rare bird.
The Feelers
You love the way that modern art can make you feel emotions in your body that you can’t explain. Being alone in nature has a similar effect, though. You’ve also been doing the work with your therapist to change that self-talk and your outlook and perspective. You’ve come to realize that the space where you live is just a reflection of the way you feel inside. But that also comes with the knowledge that you can surround yourself with meaningful and beautiful art and bring inspiration and creativity into your life on purpose.
Are you one (or more!) of these people?

Why you should collect from a
Living, Working Local Artist
If you’re anything like me, you feel isolated by the way that our society pulls us apart and makes each moment a commodity. You’re looking for real stories and connections among all the noise.
So much of what we put in our homes has little to no meaning. It can be so easy to go to a home goods store and pick up something cute and cheap, but it doesn’t bring you joy. Why was this work created? What is the story behind it? Where is the soul?
Well I don’t make any of that. I make very real, very emotional works to tap into something deeper. I tell stories with color and form and create meaning as I take you along for the ride. When you work with me, you get the real deal.

In our talk, you’ll discover:
- How much should you spend on original artwork? Starting your own collection of originals doesn’t have to be expensive and you don’t need to know anybody in a fancy gallery. I’ll give you honest advice and reasonable prices for the work that interests you.
- What size painting should you get? Big paintings are a great way to make a statement, but they’re also a great way to overwhelm a room. It’s all about putting the right-size painting in the right spot in the right room. I’ll walk you through the steps.
- What about the frame? Custom framing can be expensive and inconvenient, even if its worthwhile for some paintings. I offer a selection of handmade and off-the-shelf frames to fit your home. The frame is what connects a painting to its room, both literally and aesthetically. It’s important to chose the right one.
- How do I take care of my new painting? Acrylic paintings on canvas are remarkably sturdy and resilient, but there are some tips and tricks you should know to keep them just as bright and vibrant as they were when you got them.

These are the questions I get asked the most
I offer artwork in a range of sizes and prices to fit all walls and budgets and the cost of your session depends on the paintings that you pick out. That said, most Build Your Nest clients spend somewhere between $1,000 and $3,000 for 2-3 original paintings.
Oil paintings are made with paint consisting of pigment and a stabilizer oil. Acrylic paints are made from pigments and an acrylic polymer binder. Both types of paintings can keep their color for years. Both are great for your collection, but I work in acrylics because of their accessibility, lack of fumes and fast drying time.
Absolutely! Commissions are one of my favorite ways to collaborate on a creative project. We’ll go through a similar process, but I’ll come over to your home with blank canvases to show you the visual size of your future masterpiece. We will then talk a bit about what you’re looking for, discuss terms and timeline and get started!
Yes, we can arrange that! Just mention it in your intake form and I’ll keep my lips zipped!
Not yet, but I’m open to a short road trip!
