About

My name is Brian Fritz and I’m an artist, cyclist, singer-songwriter, graphic designer and fine artist based in Howell, MI (a bit north of Ann Arbor). I’ve been making and selling art since at least 2014, but my earliest memories are of drawing spaceships with magic marker, so I’ve been doing this for as long as I can recall. I specialize in birds and landscapes in acrylic, watercolor, ink, pastel, and block prints. I am inspired by nature and the outdoors, getting outside whenever possible.

Why all the birds?

Why not? Have you seen birds? They’re pretty little dinosaurs!

But really, people have used birds as symbols for centuries and different birds mean different things to different people. I like to explore those meanings. What does a cardinal mean to you? Is that different for someone else? How does an Eastern Bluebird make you feel? How about a Canada Goose? I’ve gotten into countless conversations with people about their stories with birds they see at their backyard feeder or saw once on vacation. And that’s enough of a connection to keep them coming back to see my work as I grow as an artist.
